Bewitched

Thought it was time for another "Only in LA" post.  There is a Witch's House in Beverly Hills.  It was originally built in 1921 on a movie lot in Culver City where I grew up.  Many "Hollywood films" were made (and still are) in Culver City notably The Wizard of Oz and Gone With the Wind.  Famous MGM, now Sony Pictures, was located in Culver City.  The Witch's House was moved to Beverly Hills in the 1930's where it still stands attracting lots of visitors, especially on Halloween.  HERE's a link about it.    Look at the pointy hat roof and if you look closely, you can see the moat.  How would you like to go trick or treating here?

  1. Wow, this is marvelous, right out of a storybook! :) This Witch's House looks dilapidated and old, yet quite pretty and majestic, especially with that dramatic sky. Great capture! :) Love the pointy roof. Have you even been inside?

  2. Hi Darylynn,
I never heard of that house and we lived in Beverly Hills when I was 6 and of course we lived in Culver City too. My sister was born in Culver City. Cool house that is for sure I even know the area where it is at but never saw it or heard of it even when we went trick or treating in BH. Amazing how you learn something new everyday. Hugs, Dru

  3. I have seen that house in the movies but never in person (some Californian, huh?). I have been to the Winchester House though. I wonder what this house looks like inside? When I get the chance I will try to see if there is anything.

  4. It's sweet. I wouldn't want to live in it (windows look small, so I have visions of it being dark and cobwebby! sure I'm totally wrong).

  5. I look at the house and all I can think is 'Harry Potter where are you?'
