Amazing Places to Visit

I subscribe to a Facebook page called "Amazing Places to Visit.  Every day they post a photo of some truly beautiful and fascinating place.  Yesterday, they posted about "Cenotes" which really caught my eye. "A cenote is a deep natural pit, or sinkhole, characteristic of Mexico, resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater underneath. Especially associated with the Yucatán Peninsula, and some nearby Caribbean islands, cenotes were sometimes used by the ancient Maya for sacrificial offerings."  Here's a photo of a cenote in Chichen Itza, Mexico.
If you click HERE, you can see google images of many cenotes.

So it's Superbowl Weekend which is always a good excuse for lots of hors d'ouerves and dips.  I'm having pita chips with some spinach dip made with lowfat Greek yogurt.  No chicken wings here although I hear there's a shortage of them.  I mostly watch the Superbowl for the commercials and the halftime show.  Poor Beyonce...everyone will be watching to make sure she doesn't lip sync.  What a non-issue as far as I'm concerned.  Then there's Puppy Bowl 9 on Animal Planet if you prefer that to football.  Happy February and have a super weekend!

  1. Happy February Darylynn;

    i posted an entry all about February.

    Just beautiful! I never knew they were called "Cenotes". I always found the photos of them amazing and beautiful.

    I'm looking forward to my first Super Bowl with my family. I usually spend it home alone but since my sister Louise and my two beautiful daughters moved back to the area, I get to do more things that I haven't done before. ;-}
    Have a super weekend too. Hugs

  2. Hi Darylynn,
    Beautiful. I have seen something like that somewhere in my travels but can't remember where and when? Have a fun Superbowl! Doug Benson is having a potluck and interrupting the Superbowl but Joe and I are so not into sports so we are not going but going to dinner and a movie instead! Your appetizers sound yummy! Have a wonderful weekend!
    Hugs, Dru

  7. Hi Darylynn,
    My photo does look like a sea creature there but its a pine limb.
    I cant imagine swimming in a cenote as when they were researched by archaeologists they found them to be jammed full of bodies of women and children who were human sacrifices. Ugh!
    No football for me.. tv is dead it seems anyway.
    Have a lovely weekend.

  8. Hi There... I agree about Beyonce. Ask me if I care... nope. However she wants to do her thing... do it. I am not a fan of football. I had to ask some football fan today at the college who it was that is exactly playing. The Seahawks fans are all wearing their "blue" today. Have a good weekend. HUGS!

  11. Hi Darylynn, I don't watch the super bowl Steve is up in Reno fishing and staying in a luxury hotel for a super bowl party tomorrow eating wonderful food. I don't feel I am missing out on anything because I don't have to cook all weekend long and get to Not Watch the super bowl. Yay! However I am rooting for the 49ers of course.
    Beyonce lip syncing is really not a big deal to me either I think that we have bigger problems to tend to. So silly that whole convo was. What a waste of time. Have a great weekend. Hugs
