VCRs

Does anyone still have a VCR? We have one but we never use it. Video tapes have been replaced by DVDs and now BluRays. We had some of our home movies copied to DVD but we still have boxes full of old movies on video. I took a quick cellphone photo of a box of videos and sent it to Justin asking if he was interested in any of them. Most of them were movies that were his favorites...like Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Arc and other movies that he could watch over and over again. Here's the photo.
Of course he wasn't interested so I googled, "What to do with old videos" and a good suggestion was to donate them to your public library so I will take them this week if Jacob is well enough to go to his Storytime on Wednesday.  I did save quite a few children's Disney videos and put the VCR in the "boy's room."

Our big entertainment center has really nice roll out storage racks for videos but the racks won't hold DVD's or Blu Rays so once again, I googled, "Blu-Ray Storage Pull Out Tray" and found THIS

This will be perfect and over the weekend, shipping was free.  Here's a photo of our entertainment center.
The storage rack will go in the cubby on the bottom right with the wood door.  Behind the wood door on the left are XBox and Wii games.  I was able to get the old video racks to hold them.  As much as I love our entertainment center, it is limiting in that we can't get anything bigger than a 40 inch screen.  It's not that big of a deal because our furniture floats in the middle of the room so we're close enough to the TV.  Anyone else have any outdated technology?  Typewriters, cassette players?  What else?  Jeff was inspired by my cleaning and found lots of old 3.5 floppy discs to toss.  Remember those?

  1. Oh yes, we do. We have been using it till 2008, right before moving here. Zeno's mom still uses it coz she has tons of old videos and replacing them all with DVDs would be too expensive.
I still use my cassette player here! :D Will do as long as it "survive", LOL!
    Happy day! xo

Bill still has a record player, and all of his old, old records! I wish I'd kept my Kids from Fame album!

I've got an old typewriter at my mum & dads. Want to get it back and spray it pink!

  3. Hi Darylynn,
I got rid of my video tapes years ago I threw them in the trash and my VCR went probably in the trash 10 years ago. Ta=hat is a cool BluRay holder. I don't collect anymore but if I did that would be great to get. Have a wonderful Monday. Hugs, Dru

We also still have a CD player (I think this is outdated now because everything is MP3), floppy discs, DVD player, a record player and a typewriter. lol I think Dave even has a CB somewhere. lol Wow, that's a big entertainment center but very pretty. Have a wonderful day. Hugs.

  6. All my stuff is long outdated! My vcr broke and was thrown out long ago. I don't have DVRs at all.
My television is also broken now but it was very old 21 inch screen and one of the big boxy things with a huge back on it. No money for a new one. So I see things on the computer if they are available.
I have an old phone and an old style cell phone my daughter gave me and it is also broken now. Everything's getting old over here including me. :)
    Hugs.

  7. We had one of those entertainment centers in our old house it looked almost just like yours. We don't have it anymore, no more dusting in the cracks and crevices. We don't buy either CD or vidoes anymore but I have some old ones from when Morgan was young, Charlie Brown and Sponge Bob and Christmas and Holiday movies. I am gonna keep them around for the kids they do watch them while they are here, well Brandon. Maybe Rylan will watch them soon too.
It's very nice doe it make your room look small? It's nice it holds so much stuff. I don't have any stuff in our great room, I kind of like that now. In our hall we have a huge cabinet and put our ((stuff)) in that. It looks like I don't have any. LOL! but then they enter my craft room. Have a great weekend. Hugs
