Disappearing Act

Sorry...didn't mean to do a disappearing act but I haven't had much to write about lately as the boys have been sick and haven't been here.  I will be seeing them maybe today and then for sure on Tuesday.  I also finally made an appointment to see what's going on with my sore right leg.  I've given it about 6 weeks or more and it's still with me.  I think it's either sciatica or piriformis syndrome according to my symptoms doing a web search.  It's not that painful but just an annoying dull pain that starts in my right buttock and radiates down my leg to my toes.  The orthopedic doctor is on vacation so I'm seeing his physician assistant on Tuesday at 8:30 AM and he will get the ball rolling on an MRI or whatever other test I might need so when the doctor returns, he'll have some results to look at.

Kanan has a teeth cleaning appointment on Wednesday.  His breath has been smelling like dead fish lately despite my best efforts at brushing his teeth with an enzyme toothpaste, an enzyme mouthwash-like spray, denta-bones, you name it.  I guess we just have to bite the over $400.00 bullet and pay for the cleaning.  It's insane the cost- they have to have bloodwork first, then the anesthesia and then follow-up antibiotics.  I think the vets in our area are just way out of line with their charges!  Have a great week ahead!

  1. Sounds like sciatica. Good that you're getting treatment. Dahli's breathe is sometimes hard to handle but since I started her on Greenie's it seems better. Pricey but worth it. Happy President's Day. http://www.greenies.com/

  2. Hi Darylynn,
    It does sound like sciatica my Mom had that for awhile but did get ris of it. It hurt her when she drove :( Good luck on Tuesday! Also $400 YIKES! VCA rip off artists wanted me to do Billy's 5 years ago when he was 6 years old for $550 with blood work etc I didn't do it.I found a very good and inexpensve vet in Granada Hills North Valley Vet Paul takes their animals there now. That is where Buster first was diagnosed. Have a great day. Hugs, Dru

  3. I have no room to say anything... because I too did the disappearing act. My reasoning is that when we have registration or when we begin a quarter start... it is tiring and I am just not in the mood to look at the computer at home since I looked at it all day. Anyway, I am off until Thursday this week since it is Mid Winter Break for the boys (and yes they have Spring Break too). The holiday was yesterday and I took the first two days of the four left of them being off... and Kari took off Th and F. I finally posted though. I didn't have anything either until now. Hugs

  4. Hi Darylynn,
    sorry to hear about your physical issues! I hope your appointment went well and you got some answers.

    Isn't doggy bad breath horrible? The vet can be very expensive, that's for sure.

  5. Hi Darylynn;

    Hopefully your tests won't find what you found on the internet. We always think the worst when we think we find the answers on the web. I guess we are all guilty of that.

    It's not just CA. that's expensive regarding vet charges. Here in upstate NY it's just as bad. It's a shame for the folks who can't afford the cost of helping their pets sometimes have to let them go. That's one reason why I don't have pets for I couldn't handle not being able to afford their upkeep and care.

    Take care my friend. Hugs

  7. There seems to be a lot of this going around. I had this last year and it went away. I had a knot in my knee on the side and the pain in the buttocks that went down the leg. It was horrid pain. Bu thankfully it is gone not to return as of yet. Try not to worry it will probably go away like mine did. I had a cat scan as well and then a few weeks after that it was gone, I had it from Jan through early spring last year. Get better. Hugs
