Mamma Mia! We got caught in a downpour! Rain was predicted and a little fell Wednesday night but by Thursday morning the sky was blue with puffy clouds. I told Jacob that we'd walk to Costco (stroller for him) and Grandpa would meet us there later and drive us home. Jeff was at the dog park and we didn't want to wait for him. We did our shopping and then stopped for our usual Costco lunch... Jacob has a slice of pizza and I take the second piece home for later when Ryan gets home from school. By the time we were ready to leave the sky had opened up and it was pouring. There was no way to get to the car without getting drenched. Jeff pulled the SUV up and I handed Jacob to him over a little wall and then Jeff and I put all our purchases in the car. We were both soaked through. By the time we got home it was lightning and thundering and Jeff and I both got flash flood warning sirens on our iPhones. We're on a hill so we don't worry about flooding but poor Kalani was in the backyard so he was happy to see us arrive and let him in.
Today is my birthday and Jeff and I are going to lunch and a movie. We're going to see Argo which is getting great reviews. Jessica has the day off so we won't have the boys. Justin and Sarah will be here over the weekend and we'll celebrate my birthday and Ryan's 5th birthday which is on the 17th.
I have a small update on the mystery of the headless pigeon. Our neighbor said he saw a hawk swoop down and take it's head off. Okay but that still doesn't explain how it was precariously perched on our backyard fence. Still, it's better than worrying that there's some wacko pigeon-killer running loose in the neighborhood.
Finally, here's the latest photo of our Halloween front porch. Ryan keeps suggesting thing to add and he's keeping with my black and white theme. I did add the black cat he wanted but then he suggested a skeleton because it's white. I reminded him I have a tiny skeleton on my entryway organizer but he wants a full sized skeleton that you can dress up! I told him maybe next Halloween. Happy Weekend!
Happy Birthday Darylynn !
ReplyDeleteOoops at the sudden downpour ! It's that time of the year here when rain can be violent & sudden. Glad you made it back home safely, even though totally soaked.
Enjoy your day & weekend ! Big hugs xoxo
Happy birthday! Enjoy your special day, hope you are spoilt rotten :O)
ReplyDeleteick to the ongoing pigeon saga, but yes, agree that that is a slightly better notion than a phantom pigeon killer!
So I'm thinking you didn't enjoy the rain very much then? Sounds totally brilliant to me! I was disappointed yesterday, we'd been told to expect heavy rain and possibly thunder & lightning, but it was nothing more than normal rain. Boo. Wanted stormage!
enjoy the weekend xx
Happy Birthday! Enjoy your day! We have been (finally) getting a lot of rain and I am enjoying it. It certainly the time of the year for storms. That is so strange about the pigeon, maybe it landed up there and just died. Like it had been attacked, or hit by a car and was able to fly just so far and that was it. Glad to know that there isn't some wacko out there. Have a super weekend!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Darylynn!!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderfl lunch and enjoy the movie it looks so good!
I love the cat and new bat I believe added to your Halloween decorations! I got the same alert on my iPhone a Verizon thing since my fiends with AT&T didn't get them. It was a really wild storm out in the Arcadia aread. It took me over an hour to get to the hospital last night :(( Have a wonderful Birthday weekend. Hugs, Dru
Buon Compleanno, Darylynn! :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy a yummy lunch and the movie with Jeff.
I bet R&J love your Halloween front porch. :D
*hugs
Wishing you a very happy birthday, Darylynn! Hope you have fun at the movies. Love the Halloween-themed entrance, looks fabulous. Lots of hugs
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Darylynn! How does it feel to be able to vote now?
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful birthday weekend.
Ryan is growing up too fast. You have to slow him down a bit. Kids should have to stay small for a long time.
Poor pidgeon. Hawks are fast and powerful. He probably dropped the little guy on the fence. Sometimes you see animals in trees where eagles dropped them.
I have seen more hawks, eagles and vultures here in NJ than I ever did in Utah.. go figure.
Hope you had a great birthday. Wondering how you liked Argo. You'll probably let us know on Monday. Sounds like you had a touch of my weather. Florida is the lightning capital of the US. Scary! Your Halloween decos are darling.
ReplyDeleteHi Darylynn, we got the downpour too and we sure needed the rain. We took the kids to the park yesterday and it will be 90 by Sunday. I am in Temecula with my dad and he wasnts to see that movie too. Looks like Ryan wants to be a decorator too. Enjoy your weekend. Hugs and Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteI just love Ryan's help with decorating. He is keeping with the black and white theme, isn't he? HUGS
