Bouncing Back

Ryan had a miraculous recovery and was able to go to school on Wednesday and have his birthday celebration after all.  He went from a fever and hardly holding his head up to being excited about filling up his goodie bags for his classmates in a matter of a few hours.  Jessica got home from work and had to get busy making Halloween cookies to share.  Here's a photo of him on his 5th birthday (can you tell) wearing his birthday crown from school.  Sorry I cut it off but I took a quick photo with my cellphone.

Yesterday we went down to Channel Islands to go kayaking with Chris but when we got down there it was too windy and the kayak rental place told us it wouldn't be safe to go.  Fortunately, I had a Groupon for flights of beer and appetizers at a local restaurant in the area so we had to make do with that.  It was supposed to be our reward after a hard paddle but we got the reward without the work.

Our heatwave is over and we have cool and drizzly weather ahead.  If the weather isn't too bad we have our local Pumpkin Festival in Calabasas to attend this weekend.  On Monday, I have a field trip to the Pumpkin Patch with Ryan and we're still looking for a day to take the boys to Disneyland.

  2. Hi Darylynn;

    I'm so glad Ryan is feeling better and had a lovely birthday celebration with his classmates. It's hard to believe he is 5 already! BTW, thanks for the update on Annie's blog on our late friend Elizabeth's hubby and Buddy.

    I had a great day yesterday. The surprise I received made up for all of the bad days of last week. I wrote all about it on my blog. And before you ask, It has nothing to do with the disappointing loss of my favorite sport team.

    You asked if I have seen the new show Elementary with Lucy Lui. I watched the first one and I thought Arthur Conan Doyle must have turned in his grave if he saw what they did to his creation. Worst I have ever seen. Even the version of a modern day Holmes on PBS was 100% better. Ahhh.. Basilo Rathbone where are you?? ;-}

    Have a great weekend my friend. Hugs

I was reading Toni's comment about Elementary I actually love the show but I have always been a Jonny Lee Miller fan since his show Eli Stone. Hugs, Dru

  5. They heal quickly. Its nice he didn't have to spend his birhday feeling down.
    Thank you so very much for the update . I have thought of them so very often. I had read her tribute online from the rest of their family, but, it gave no real details and I am not on Facebook. I will have to sign up there and get with the program!
    To bad about the kayaking. Lots of that here too.
    I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Enjoy the pumpkins!
    ~hugs~
