Our House

Isn't this a perfect cartoon for Jeff and me?  We've been cancelling out each other's votes for 38 years now.  I don't know if you can see all the parts but it's really quite clever.  On the blue side, a Prius with an I Love Obamacare bumper sticker.  On the driveway, the New York Times,  MSNBC on the TV and a photo of Bill Clinton on the wall.  On the red side, a Hummer with a Tea Party Patriot bumper sticker.  On the driveway, the Wall Street Journal, Fox News on the TV and a photo of Ronald Reagan on the wall.  It says "'Til Vote Do Us Part" but Jeff and I have always been able to agree to disagree.  He'll tease me about hiding my absentee ballot and I'll give him misinformation about our polling place.  We watch the debates together and agree on some things and disagree on others.  We have a sense of humor about it all.

We are having Santa Ana winds beginning tonight.  You know I always talk about them.  They heat us up in October, November and December and are often the cause of brush fires.  They are featured in the Christmas movie, The Holiday and I also just found out that The Beach Boys recorded a song entitled Santa Ana Winds!  I found it on YouTube and while not one of their better songs, it still sums up this unique weather phenomena in the Los Angeles area.  It's HERE.  Have a great weekend!  Here's a pumpkin I carved for one of our past Homework Assignments.  It's a sunflower.

  2. Hi Darylynn, LOL at the cartoon. Love it. Thankfully the election hasn't turned your home into a battleground. Oh yes. I remember that Pumpkin carving. Still gorgeous. Hugz!

  4. Bill and I disagree with our political views too. Our votes cancel each others out! Mine being the right one, his being completely and utterly wrong! ha ha.

    Your winds bring warm air, ours brings freezing! It's gorgeous today, grey, cold, drizzly. The sun showed her face a while back, but has quite rightly pulled on a warm coat and gone home. It's really cold. Love it!

    Have a gorgeous weekend.
    Love that pumpkin.

  5. Happy Friday, Darylynn! I love that cartoon! Dave and I are both libertarian but he tends to lean more to the right side and I to the left. lol We are also very lighthearted about it.

  6. You know I know what Santa Ana winds are. I remember the winds coming down the pass hard. The winds would actually pick up my car and move it over to another lane (my VW). I would never be able to sleep very well either with the wind howling in the Inland Empire where I lived 15 yrs before moving to WA. Sand would be everywhere... and I would open the windows on the school bus I drove back then to let the wind through so it couldn't tip the bus over. Simi trucks were always on their sides on the freeways. Hope you have a wonderful weekend! I would send you rain too but that would be a little much. ;-)

  7. I showed the picture to hubby since we are in the same situation. Not always the case, but we do agree to disagree. The congress would not bring up the postal issues presented towards them, not at election time when they want all the political mail delivered. That is why the retirement package offered does not go into effect until Jan 31st. :) Have a great weekend. Hugs

  9. Hi Darylynn;

    Keep safe in the Santa Ana winds. I have been praying for all of us in this perfect storm's path. Gov. Cuomo has shut down all transit and schools and has called in the National Guard. I will keep updates as long as power holds out. I have my cell phone charged up for text messages only as my phone is a cable phone that will be useless with the power down. I just heard that the Atlantic Boardwalk is crumbling. New Jersey where Annie is, is getting hit already. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Hugs
