Hump Day

It's been really hot so haven't felt like doing much.  I've had to water at least twice a day to keep my flowers and tomatoes from dying.  The boys haven't been here this week but we're going to pick them up this morning and take them out for a few hours, go out to lunch and then bring them back to their house for naps... at least for Jacob to nap.  When they aren't with us they keep telling Jessica and Pat, "I want to go to Nani's house!"  We miss them, too.

Our next door neighbor is very pregnant... if I remember right, she's due at the end of August.  I feel bad for her being so pregnant during this heat wave.  Both Justin and Jessica were early September babies so I know what it's like to be in your last trimester during summer.  I went outside to bring in our trash cans so I went over and brought hers in, too.  Jeff and I have noticed that we haven't seen her husband's car in several weeks.  They both work and have really good jobs so we're hoping he is just traveling and will be back soon.  When I spoke to her a few months ago, she was less than enthusiastic about being pregnant for the first time.  It didn't seem to fit in with her career goals.  So now we are on the lookout to see when and if he returns.  That would be awful if he's gone!

  1. Good morning!
I couldn't imagine being that pregnant in this heat! I was only a couple of months along during the summer months and I have always considered myself lucky. lol I sure hope her husband hasn't left for good for not only her sake, but also for the child's.

Our poor veggie garden is watered frequently and I have just about given up my flower beds - it seems as though no matter how much I water, they can't get enough.

    Have a good day!

  3. I was born at the end of August and my mom says it was the hottest day of the year in So CA. I felt bad enough when I was prego in the summer and I had Kari in Novemeber!

I loved going to my grandparents house too when I was little. It was always a secure and fun place to go. My grandparents were always doing something.

    HUGS

  4. I955 was a really hot summer, like this and it stayed hot. I think Danna and I were born the same month/year. Mom was DLand when it opened it the pointed heals were getting stuck in the asphalt that was new and soft from the heat. I now have a cold and my throat hurts and I want some soup but it is too hot for soup. :(

  5. Yes, would be awful if he left but some do that. Have a friend whose son and daughter in law went through in vitro, she lost one of the two babies after a few months and he left when she was 5 months with the pregnancy. She went into early labor as a result and the baby was born seriously prematurely. He is okay now though.
    Horrible way to treat someone.
I hope the weather cools off for you soon.
Nice when the kids love coming isn't it?
    Hugs

  7. Oh my it has been so very hot and I too have not been out in it unless we have to. It's very smokey in the sac valley from all the fires blowing and settling into the valley. Our elevation is not enough here to keep it from us.
I too was pregnant through the summers and it's no fun at all. I really have to commend the women for having a baby even though it may not fit into her life plans. Accidental babies usually turn out to be the biggest blessing in life. I do hope her husband is around to help, that would be a lot for her. I know it was for Kirsten even though she is married with him being gone it is if he is not. I hope you enjoy a wonderful weekend. We are going to go to the bay area up hwy for some relief from this hot weather. I think to see another lighthouse and have some dinner or lunch off the bay where it will be quite chilly. Hugs
