We are leaving for Carmel Friday morning to attend the
Concours d'Elegance at Pebble Beach. Jeff is a devotee of cars- classic cars, race cars- and has always wanted to attend this event. It's expensive but I told him, "So what? You need to get working on that bucket list." We will take my favorite drive up Highway One through Big Sur and do a little shopping in Carmel and sightseeing and then we'll meet Jeff's cousin's family in Carmel Valley Village for dinner at
The Corkscrew Cafe. We will staying at their home high atop the mountains in Carmel. Jeff's cousin Steve built this home himself... literally built it... didn't just oversee the building. Here's the view from their kitchen window.
Remember my summer centerpiece where I have the sand? I plan to go to the beach at Carmel and bring my big beach purse to take home some of the beautiful white sand to replace the sand in my centerpiece.
Can you picture me trying to surreptitiously fill my beach purse full of Carmel sand? And then carry it back to our car? This photo of the white sand is facing north and shows Pebble Beach in the background.
Kanan and Cooper will be at Camp Bow Wow and Jessica will be house and cat sitting. Have a great weekend!
Hi Darylynn I hope you have fun. I love love love and love classic cars! I have a photo of me in a old truck on Facebook and Sacramento has a really nice Towe Ford museum right near the old town sac I used to take my kids to when they were small.
ReplyDeleteI will leave the link here just in case he ever wants to visit this super fantastic museum. I hear there is one in Sparks Nevada as well. Now that gave me an idea for a cool outing this weekend that won't be hot. Enjoy your drive. You know I come from the other direction, I don't think I have ever gone north only driven south. Once past Carmel I have gone both north and south. I bet our friends who own the condo are going to this Concour's d'Elegance at Pebble Beach. I want to go! Enjoy big hugs

ReplyDeleteI forgot to comment about the sand, yes the sand is fabulous there and I had to LOL about you caring sand in your bag. I am sure they have a sand police and and sand huggers will hate you, but it will look great on your center piece. ha ha ha. Hugs
ReplyDeleteHi Darylynn,
ReplyDeleteI love classic cars as well, so I can understand why Jeff would want to go. The Bucket List thing has been on my mind a lot this summer and we have been doing things that we have wanted to do for years and finally said "why not?".
I would give anything to see you carrying (and filling) your bag full of sand. lol That will be a great addition to your centerpiece.
Have a terrific weekend! We are going to an amusement park tomorrow for our (un)official end to our summer. It's already getting cooler around here and we are slowing down now and getting ready for fall.
Hi Darylynn;
ReplyDeleteI love Highway One and Carmel. We went there a few times. The shops and beach are wonderful. I always took off my sandals and buried my feet in that gorgeous white sand, sat on a rock and just enjoyed. Enjoy yourself and save some of that sand for me. ;-} Hugs
Wow! Sounds like a terrific w/e. Have a great time and treat us to lots of pictures when you return. Hugz!
ReplyDeletehave fun! Happy weekend x
ReplyDeleteHi Darylynn,
ReplyDeleteHave a fun weekend in Carmel. Yes I know what you mean when you say Jeff's cousin built his house literally because as you know Paul did the same thing with help of course. I can just picture you on the beach getting that sand. Hugs, Dru
Have a lovely weekend in Carmel! :) So envious! Hubby and I have been to Carmel in 2005: soft sand, beautiful views... lucky you! :D

Hi Darylynn, I like to collect sand, shells and bit of memories too. I forgot to get sand in Maui but I have some from when we were in Oahu in 2009.
ReplyDeleteHave lots of fun! Hugs
Yes, I can see you collecting sand... I don't find that strange at all. As you know, I collect shells, beach rocks, and most of all sea glass. I brought home from So CA a baggy of sand from I think it was Laguna Beach (don't tell). It is a piece of home.
ReplyDeleteHave a great time! I am so glad that you got out there and checked it off the list. HUGS
I hope you had a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteI have done the same thing with sand. You will do fine! Hope you had a lookout.
Happy Monday.
Hugs
Have a lovely Monday! xo
ReplyDeleteI saw some pics on FB, so I know you are having a super time! What a gorgeous view out that kitchen window of Jeff's cousin's house. No one could ever get tired of that view :). No new post at my blog. Things are great here, weather is continuing to be hot and gorgeous. Have a lovely week. ((hugs))
