Cars, Cars, Cars!

I didn't take any photos at the Concours d'Elegance so I snagged a few from Jeff just to show you the kinds of things we saw.  In addition to the cars from collections, all the major car manufacturers had areas where they were showing off their new models.  I enjoyed that because those are actually cars one could buy... not million dollar collectible cars.  They also had free coffee, wine and snacks.  Here's a car that I thought looked like something out of Batman.  It's a Lamborghini and it goes from 0- 62 mph in 2.5 seconds, Jeff tells me.

This next car is a Hennessey Venom GT Spyder.  They are only making 29 of them.  Steven Tyler has ordered one.  Guess he can thank American Idol for that!

There were lots of antique cars and many had famous histories.  Royalty from India were in attendance with their cars and one was used by Queen Elizabeth.  They had a restored car that cowboy star Tom Mix died in.  This one caught my eye with it's elaborate snake horn.

There were events all over the Monterey Peninsula and many fabulous cars were parked on Ocean Avenue, the main street that goes down to the ocean in Carmel.  Here's a beautiful Jaguar that was getting a lot of attention.

I really have to write about the fabulous dinners we had while in Carmel.  I guess I'll save that for tomorrow.

  2. Hi Darylynn,
Very interesting cars. I guess you have to be a car person to appreciate them. Give me a Ford Fusion and I would be very happy lol I am sure Jeff was in heaven. The Hennessey is a cool looking sports car. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

  4. Darylynn I have to talk to our friend Fred about getting me tickets to this next year, do they have it next year? He has his way of getting things for us for free it's pretty wonderful. Although I would pay for it as well. I am pretty sure Fred was there because he loves old cars and owns one and has 3 corvettes. Steve works on his old truck and he won't let anyone else touch it.
Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend I bet the weather is fantastic there as always, except when it rains.
So glad the sand huggers didn't get to you. I wonder if Norcal has more of them then socal or visa versa.
The food is always wonderful there. Aww I miss there this year. Have a wonderful week.

  6. Hi Darylynn! So glad you enjoyed Carmel and got your sand too. :) We had lots of sun during our Calif. trip, and fog and rain only in San Francisco.

    Cool cars, I really like #3! :D
    Have a lovely evening!
