I thought I'd better write a post today so you won't think I perished during my colonoscopy yesterday. Everything went as fine as those things can go. I was so tired when I got home. Our insurance only covers the use of Demerol for the procedure and that can make you very dopey. The nurse told me I could pop for propofol for $250.00. Uh... no! That's what killed Michael Jackson! Considering Jeff's role with that, it would seem too ironic for me to go that way! I always want the mildest anesthesia possible so would've been fine with something like Valium. After the procedure, Jeff picked me up with the boys and we went to Wendy's for lunch since Ryan likes cheeseburgers and Jacob likes French fries. I had a cheeseburger, too, and while I was eating I started feeling so faint and everything was getting white in front of my eyes. Jeff said I looked ashen and my pulse was faint. Jeesh! What a way to go... in Wendy's! Anyway, I was fine after about 10 minutes and made it home and took a nap...something that is foreign to me. By afternoon I was feeling normal and went in the backyard and watched Ryan in the spa. He has goggles now so was trying to put his head underwater.
Today we have the freebie movie, Puss in Boots, at the Muvico theater at the mall. When we were there last week, I noticed a sign that said on Tuesdays children's lunches are free with the purchase of adult lunches at Bogart's. Bogart's is the in-theater restaurant. So we will have a free movie for the four of us and four lunches with the purchase of two. Such a deal! We are in the midst of a big heatwave so a cool theater will be a nice retreat!
So glad all is okay, Darylynn. I know relatives that have gone through that procedure and it's not a pleasant one to go through, to say the least. We've been having a great summer, as well. Have gone to a few movies, too. We usually steer clear of the theatres, because they're so expensive, but some you just have to see on the big screen! Brave was a wonderful movie. I absolutely loved The Avengers in 3D; I was WOW'd throughout the whole movie lol. We saw the Batman movie, too, and thought it was really good. Oh and the new Spiderman was awesome, too. Have a wonderful week. ((hugs))
ReplyDeletea colonoscopy doesnt sound like much fun hun. I am glad you got through it ok. Im with you about the propofel I dont think I would be to keen to have anything like that either. But then I don't like anything that would render me unconcious either.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day hun
*hugs*
Sorry you felt bad after. Fainting is a side effect of Demerol so be sure to tell your doctor about that.
ReplyDeleteMovie deal sounds great. I saw bits of Puss and Boots.
Hope your evening is lovely.
Hugs
That's awful feeling like that. I'm so pleased Jeff was right there with you and that you weren't driving or anything. I bet you are glad to have that behind you for another year (no pun intended).
ReplyDeleteI had my colonoscopy about 2 years ago and had propofol and paid $40.
ReplyDeleteThe prep is worse than the hospital part. Kaiser does a lot of them. There were a whole lot of people in the waiting area with me. I was in and out of it. They showed me pictures of a small polyp that was removed. They said to come back in 10 years. I got faint after my breast core biopsy. That was painful! We women have to put up with so much.
There was a 4.4 earthquake in Yorba Linda which is not to far from me. Shake and bake. Hope the doggie daycare works out for you. enjoy the heat because I do not like it. Hugs
does not sound nice, I'm glad you are ok now.

Hi Darylynn;
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are feeling better. I never had any aftermath reaction to my colonoscopies. I've had 2 so far and next year go for a 3rd. If I remember correctly, one of the side effects of Demerol is fainting.
Great deal on the movie and lunches. Have a great day ahead my friend. Hugs
Good Morning!
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you are feeling better and that other than that everything went good. That is a terrific deal with the movie/lunch. I wish we had something like that in our area. I would love to take Shawn to more movies but I can't be sure he would sit through an entire movie yet (we tried, if you remember).
Have a great day!
Hi Darylynn,
ReplyDeleteThat explains the Demerol. I get the stuff that you are awake but don't remember anything during it and pretty much awhile after. You are not asleep which I prefer and my 2 Dr's did because both went that route can't remember the name of that stuff but they use it to extract wisdom teeth too. Happy it went well I guess you were aware what was going on?? That would freak me out I think? Have fun at the movies today with the boys :) Hugs, Dru
Hi Darylynn
ReplyDeleteHmm that makes me wonder what they gave me, I was suppose to be asleep but I could hear everything that was going on and see them. Afterwards I told them but they didn't say anything I did not feel pain but I didn't like being awake. I just freaked out over this post. I am so glad you're okay! have a great week! where are you going on your trip? Hugs
You probably heard from us up here that we had 90 degrees plus last weekend. However, we are back to a marine layer that just won't go away, but it is cool (72 degrees).
ReplyDeleteI have only felt faint once, and I didn't like it at all. As soon as I laid down I felt better at once. It passed but it wasn't at all fun.
Have fun at the movies and stay cool. HUGS
Darylynn I found out what I have had the last 2 times I had my colonscopy. Conscious sedation is also known as "twilight sedation." It's used to provide sedation and pain relief during a procedure. The patient is usually groggy and often doesn't remember much after the surgery. But patients under this kind of sedation are conscious enough to communicate with the doctor and able to breathe completely on their own. Conscious sedation is often used for wisdom tooth extraction, colonoscopies and balloon angioplasty. Maybe next time you can suggest this?? Hugs, Dru
