As you can see from the video, Hunter did not need the Skamper Ramp to get out. I was surprised when Jeff came with Hayley next because I hadn't even thought of testing her. She is outside the least of all the cats but she is the one I've most worried about around the spa because she has seizures. I've always worried that she could be laying on the spa bricks in the sun, have a seizure and fall in. I took two videos of her. In the first one (which I won't show) Jeff placed her in the spa and she sunk like a bowling ball. She surfaced and then just didn't seem to know how to swim at all. She finally got the hang of swimming but Jeff had to help her out. We decided to try her again because the first trial was such a failure that we would've been left not knowing if she could get out on her own. She did better, but like Hunter, did not use the Skamper Ramp.
Finally, it was Kalani's turn. He's the one cat that we have that seems to enjoy the water. He often climbs into the kitchen sink and sits there. He did the best of all and scampered out (sans Skamper Ramp) in a flash.
As you can see from the videos, I can't really tell you if the Skamper Ramp works to save a pet who falls into a spa or pool. I was happy to know that our cats wouldn't drown if they fell in the spa. I told Jeff we could return the Skamper Ramp to our local PetCo even though we had bought in online through Amazon.com. He said he'd just as soon keep it because it might help the random wild animal that might fall into our spa. I laughed and said we'd probably never know how many squirrels, rats or frogs we saved but we can imagine we're saving them all the time.
Cooper is doing great after his neutering. He's back to his old self and it's going to be hard to contain him to light activity until his stitches come out in a week. His teeth look beautiful, too, and I'm trying to remember to brush them daily.
Happy Monday Darylynn;
ReplyDeleteI always said cats are the smartest of most animals. Even though your cats don't need the skamper ramp, I too think it's a good idea you keep it as you never know. I always enjoy your videos as they are always so great. They make me feel like I'm right there with you.
I joined Pinterest this weekend and sent you a request to follow. I didn't think I would like it, but I do. You can just about guess how I spent the weekend. LOL!!
Have a great day and 4th dear friend. Hugs

Happy Monday, Darylynn. So glad that the cats can get out! That's a scary feeling. I think it's a GREAT idea leaving in there for the other animals.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day!
Btw, your yard is beautiful!
Way to go kitties!! Maybe they will use it in the future. They did so good in the water!! You do have a gorgeous lawn. Happy 4th of July!! ((BIG HUGS))!!

I left a few words out of there Paul's and they would need several :)) I won't be posting until tomorrow :)) D
ReplyDeleteInteresting... That didn't not turn out like I envisioned it at all! Nice to know the cats can get out though. That is the main goal. I can tell they weren't too happy about the exercise.
ReplyDeleteI didn't write last week due to the fact we had summer quarter start. But I will later tonight. HUGS Have a good week.
They did really good. I'm sure you have peace of mind knowing that. I would like to see one of them use the ramp though. Hope you have a good week. Hugz!
ReplyDeleteCats are good swimmers usually. Poor Hayley seemed confused by it all. I am glad you have some peace of mind now with them and so happy to hear that Cooper is doing well.
ReplyDeleteMy friend's son named his first child..born a few months ago, Cooper. When she began talking about him the other day I had a vision of your Cooper in my mind and it took a second or two for me to realize she meant her grandson!
Talk about confused!
Have a great Monday night.
Hugs
Hi Darylynn are the cats mad at Jeff now? He he those are cute videos. I did feel sorry for your overweight kitty I was rooting for him. I wouldn't think animals would know about the scamper ramp since it is going up and I think the pets are like me looking lower because i am short 5'4". I didn't know your dog was not neutered. I am sure that will be good. Have a happy 4th of July. Hugs
ReplyDeleteHi, I am wondering why you don't have a cover on your spa, especially that your grandsons are there so often, we always keep ours covered unless we are in it. Love your backyard. Have a happy 4th!!
ReplyDeleteHave a Happy July 4th Darylynn :)
ReplyDeleteStill cannot see the videos.. have a Happy 4th of July! :)
ReplyDeleteNever heard of a Skamper Ramp before, but I don't have a spa or a pool...too may oak trees. Videos are great!
