Hot and Sticky

We are having Florida or Hawaii-like weather.  It's not that common for us to have high humidity in SoCal but we sometimes get what they call "Monsoonal" weather.  When you walk outside, you feel like someone has put a wet, warm cloth across your nose and mouth.  We don't like it one bit but we are used to such stable weather, it's a bit of a novelty.  Jeff and Justin had planned to go scuba diving early Saturday morning at Laguna Beach but along with the monsoonal weather comes overcast skies and diving just isn't fun unless the sun is shining and you can see all the pretty colors underwater.  We'll still go down to Justin's on Saturday because we are going to go to the Sawdust Festival in Laguna Beach.  Sarah can get us free tickets because her aunt is one of the art exhibitors there.  We'll leave the dogs at home and Jessica and the boys will come over on Saturday and enjoy the spa and take care of the pets for us.  Below is a photo from Jeff and Justin's last scuba day at Laguna Beach... a little overcast then, too.  It's one of my favorite OC (Orange County) beaches!  And no, that's not me or anyone we know in the photo!

  1. yikes, you can keep your rotten weather! Everyone keeps griping about our rainy weather, but I am thoroughly enjoying this summer. It isn't quite wall-to-wall rain, there are dry and warm days in between, but we've had such long hot summers over the past few years, we really needed a rainy summer like this to save our water supplies!

    The only downside is all the things that have had to be cancelled. Sports Day was cancelled this week because of the heavy rain overnight. It's a shame, but was the right thing to do.

    Have just been through your posts for the week, you are busy! How lovely to be able to take the boys to free films. Wish there was something like that here, it's costs a bloomin' fortune to go to the cinema. That said, Bill is taking the girl on Sunday to see Ice Age 4.

    Have a lovely weekend. Enjoy your weather! xx

  2. Hi Darylynn,
    Sounds like a fun weekend for you and Jeff & Justin. And the kids at your house too. The Sawdust Festival sounds great. Boy was it raining here last night!! Felt so weird when I walked out of work at 12:00 humid and wet. Suppose to cool down this weekend. Have fun!
    Hugs, Dru

  6. Hi Darylynn;

    Sounds and looks like you're having a wonderful weekend. The Sawdust Festival looks like a great place to spend a day. As for your weather, I've been living the hot and humid kind for 2 weeks now with no relief ahead. It has kept me awake most nights.

    Enjoy and have a great weekend my friend. Hugs

  7. HI Darylynn, We had nice weather on Friday it has been cooler then the previous days, it was humid here also.
    It's nice the boys got to do something they enjoy. Looks very pretty at the beach.
    We have a huge fire here and there are 2000 fireman fighting it. You walk outside and it smells like the fire is right at our house, it is actually 30 minutes away we are down not sure how you say that but lower in elevation from the fire so it is settling here. It's just awful. I am so glad so many firemen came to help with this horrid fire it the dangerous rugged turian .
    I hope you have fun at the festival and it's nice the kids can come take care of the pets. WE don't have festivals here we have to travel to the bay area to the different counties or cities to go to one. I like the garlic festival that is always very interesting.
    Have a great week Hugs
