Rainy Days and Mondays

We went from the mid-90's to rain over the weekend and maybe a little more expected today.  Jeff was laughing at me because I didn't want him to drive the Prius and get it full of rain drops on Sunday.  On Friday, I didn't want to drive it because of all the ashes in the air.  Around noon on Friday, the wind direction changed and all the smoke from the fire headed our way.  We had Ryan's school function and by the time we got there, you could see the ashes falling.  Ash is very bad for a car because it can scratch a car if you try and wipe it off.  It's also very alkaline so you need to use the right kind of soap to wash it.  Jeff says he'll be glad when I'm not so fussy about the car anymore.  You can imagine how I'm going to feel when he wants to load up Kanan and Cooper!

Here's a photo of the smoke heading our way

By the way, Hidden Valley that I wrote about last Wednesday had to be evacuated on Friday when the wind shifted but they were able to save the area.  It was a big job to evacuate all the horses!

Here's a photo of Ryan with his award
He's wearing pink because he was a little pig in the performance of Little Red Hen

Here's a short video of the kindergarten performance of Little Red Hen.. Ryan is a pig in the front

Ryan's reward for his special day:  a lightsaber just in time for Star War's Day- May 4th

  1. Hi Darylynn, I like the wind in the fall but not in the summer. The fires have been so bad. Ryan looks so cute and just like Eddie with his Avenger/Star War outfits. The girls love to wear the Disney princess outfits along with shoes. It is great to be a grandma! Have a great week. Hugs

  2. What a lovely video and photo - glad you had a fun time at the school. I agree you want to keep your car looking pristine, we are always battling the salt air and seagulls :)

  3. Hi Darylynn,
I remember the days when I was nervous about my new car and that first scratch or ding is a killer then you get over it! It did not rain over here at all on Sunday but I sure woke up to it this morning. Ryan looks so cute with his award and of course with his lightsaber. Hope you have a great Monday. Let me know what you thought of Safe Haven and the twist. Hugs, Dru

  4. We had a fabulous weekend with weather in the 80s. My folks say we traded weather. I had to smile when I read that you didn't want to go out in the rain. I would never get out if I worried about that :-) HUGS

  5. Good thing you don't live in our neighborhood, Culver City, you'd be a nervous wreck, nobody parks in their garage, our cars are exposed to the elements from the day they come home, we have to make sure all our junk stays clean and raindrop free!

  6. Awww.. loved hearing them sing. I just loved going to elementary school programs. They work so hard and sing their little hearts out. Ryan looks proud of his certificate.
I would be worried about the car too so I know how you feel.
I am glad they saved homes and horses.
Enjoy today and the rest of the week.
    hugs

  7. Fabulous vid of Ryan and the pics, too! I think I'd feel the same protectiveness about a new vehicle. About our shed. Well, I'd love to have room in there for whimsical stuff, but it we'll see how much room is left by the time we get everything in there lol. How is that fire situation there? I've been worried about you. Have a super week! ((hugs))
