Some people call our Santa Ana winds, "Devil Winds." My Facebook friends saw this video that I posted yesterday. I took a video off our bedroom balcony to show you how strong these warm winds are. I like them because they make the beach so warm but the downside is the brush fires they often bring. Sure enough, as I pan the camera to the west, you will see a major brush fire that began at the Camarillo Grade about 10 miles from us. Fortunately, much of the area that burned is in the rugged hillsides but there are many residential areas that the firemen were able to protect with water-dropping helicopters. They had to evacuate Cal State Channel Islands and quite a few RVs were destroyed in a RV storage area.
Today we are going to Ryan's school. The kindergarten classes are performing songs and Ryan is being presented the "Student of the Month" award. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and since I won't be here on Saturday or Sunday to say it, I'll add these wishes here...
For Saturday
May the Fourth Be With You!
and for Sunday
Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Thanks to Sadie for the MoodGirls!
Hi Darylynn;
ReplyDeleteI watched on TV the fires raging so early this year. They said that usually the great brush fires don't start until July. I remember the Santa Ana winds when I was out there.
Congratulations to Ryan for receiving the "Student of the Month" award. That's a wonderful memory to have. Take a photo so we can all see him receiving it. :)
Have a great weekend my friend. Hugs
Hi Darylynn,
ReplyDeleteGo Ryan! We are all proud of him. Yes, do take photos to share his special day.
I saw the brush fires in the news. I hate to see that starting. Santa Ana's would be nice if they didn't include anything negative.
Have a great time on Ryans special day today and a wonderful weekend.
Hugs
I love the sound of breeze (hot or otherwise!) in the trees. Sounds just like waves crashing on the sand.
ReplyDeleteYey for Ryan! Well done that fellow :O)
Have a gorgeous weekend. Warm weather has finally made it here, not sure I'm happy about it, though it has meant Bill has been able to paint my doors this week!

p.s mood girls ~ you're welcome!
Happy Friday Darylynn,
ReplyDeleteHope to see some pictures of Ryan getting his award. I am out of the loop I have not heard the news yet if the fire in Camarillo is out yet? Happy Cinco de Mayo. I hope you have a great weekend!
Hugs, Dru
P.S Sorry about using the same header as yours for my first try at designing my blog. It fit the best out of the ones I could find. Also I found out how to center it with a code in the CSS under advanced :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're far away from the fire. We get wind like that in Florida too but it usually is connected with very stormy weather. Stay safe!
