Back
Yes, I'm back but just to write about my back. I'm going to have microdiscectomy surgery for my herniated disc. It'll probably be at least a couple of weeks before I have it because they have to get pre-approval from my insurance company and I also have to have medical clearance from my regular doctor. The surgery will be done at an outpatient surgi-center... the same place where I had the epidural cortisone shot. It takes about 60-90 minutes and must be done under general anesthesia because they don't want you to move around since it's your spine. They will give me Michael Jackson's milk- propofol- to put me under. Not happy about a general anesthesia because I've never had one but not much I can do about it. For 2 to 6 weeks after surgery, I have to wear a back brace and no B, L, T: bending, lifting or twisting. The good news about the surgery is that it has a success rate of @ 95%. I'm sorry it had to come to this but it's been 5 long months of 24/7 pain and I'm ready to get it over with! I may post from time to time but I'm trying to stay off the computer as much as possible as sitting is not comfortable. Will let you know when I have a date for the surgery.

ReplyDeleteHI Darylynn, oh dear I am so sorry to hear about this. But glad it will take away your pain. I have had to go under many times and it will be just fine, try not to worry about that aspect of it. I know how you don't like that. I just pray your surgery goes well and your as good as new before you know it. Take care to rest and don't overdo it. Hugs will keep you in my prayers and be checking in with you. Hugs
ReplyDeleteHi Darylynn, I have had the prop drug for my colonoscopy with no problems. Will you be able to lay on your back? So no more FV? I will be praying. Hugs
ReplyDeleteHi Darylynn, I am sorry that it has come down to this but in the long run, you will feel much better afterward! I hope that everything goes well during and afterward and will keep you I my thoughts and prayers. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHi Darylynn,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like the surgery is very easy and 95% are great success rate that is for sure. 2-6 weeks is not bad either. I have never been put to sleep either. What they give me for my colonoscopy is a drug doesn't really put me out I forget what it is called? You will be fine. Justin his knew surgery when he was 16 like that as an outpatient and he was put to sleep. Take care and keep me posted. Hugs. Dru
Try to forget about the actual op and focus on when you are able to shake, rattle and roll again :) xxxx
ReplyDeletesorry you have to have an op, but I certainly hope it helps!

ReplyDeleteOh Darylynn, I'm so sorry the surgery is the only way to help you with your back. I've been under general anesthesia twice at least, and everything had gone fine, so there'll be no problem for you neither, you have a pretty good health except that. I'll keep you in my thoughts, hoping it will be over soon, and that recovery will be easy, fast & complete as well.
ReplyDeleteSending you big hugs
xoxo
