Highs and Lows

Didn't mean to disappear on you but it was a busy weekend of many highs and lows.  Of course, I don't need to go into it because we've all experienced the profound sadness of what happened last Friday in Connecticut.  Jeff avoids listening to most of the coverage but I need to watch it and try and come to terms with it.  As heart-wrenching as it is, I find it cathartic to experience it.  Just like Columbine and other similar tragedies, I am always so in awe of the phenomenal character that so many people show in such times of tragedy.  I really don't know how they go on but their courage inspires me.

We had a really nice party Saturday night and then we had another party to attend on Sunday night.  Sunday was also the one year anniversary of Justin and Sarah's first date so I thought I'd post a photo of them taken at our Christmas party.

Jacob was here with me on Monday so it was good therapy to be with this little sweetheart.  I guess he said to Jessica the other night, "Goodnight sweetheart" so she figured he must have heard that from me because she doesn't say sweetheart.  I took this video of him being super silly.  He's really faking this laughter just trying to be a little goofball but I thought it might brighten your day just like it did mine.

Jeff said I pulled that curl down on his forehead.  I swear I did not!

  2. We all have been so profoundly affected by such a senseless tragedy! I wish I could hug my grandkids right now. I watched a lot of the coverage, I think for the same reasons that you did - to sort of face what was happening.
Jacob is such a cutie. They do love to ham for the camera, don't they? The photo of Justin and Sarah is adorable! Have a wonderful week! ((Hugs))

  4. Hi Darylynn,
Great picture of Sarah and Justin. What a cutie Jacob is :)))
I am like you I had to watch the coverage and watched the Memorial on Sunday on CNN and loved all the faiths that were represented even my Sister Bahai faith spoke. But I loved our President's prayer speech. So happy he is our president at a time like this!! Have a great week ahead. I will probably post at the end of the week which is Christmas weekend. Hugs, Dru

  5. lovely picture and fabulous video! He's a cutie.

Oh, it just makes me so angry when I see anything where children are hurt. and so frustrated when the gunman has killed himself before being caught. Last night, one of our stations had a special programme about it, and even though it made me cry, I watched it. My heart aches for the parents who have lost children, and for the families of the adults who were killed. It's all so tragic.

I have just posted. Wanted to over the weekend, but time has not been my friend!

    xx

  8. Hi Darylynn,
it's been so hard to hear about this awful news. Once I knew about it, I didn't want to hear more about it, I knew everything I needed to know, and felt so profundly sad & hurt for all these little babies (I know they were not babies, you know what I mean) dead for nothing. (and of course the grown-ups too) This was horrible beyond words.
On a lighter note, the video was so cute, thank you so much for bringing a smile on our faces :)
I have received your card !! Thank you so much ! I hope you will get mine soon !
Happy Holidays to you & yours, my friend ! Have safe & happy celebrations !
