Cars, Cars, Cars

Yesterday, Jeff and I went to the Los Angeles Auto Show at the Convention Center in downtown LA. Jeff is a car nut and goes to this every year but I never go....unless I am actually shopping for a new car. We are planning on getting a new car for me very soon. On my "Bucket List" is to have a car with a big red bow on it for Christmas but I don't think we will be able to get what we want in time for Christmas. We don't buy cars that often. We tend to keep a car for a really long time. Jeff takes really good care of our cars so we usually have them for 10 years or more. My little Cabrio Convertible is 13 years old but is still in really good shape. Well, I should say it looks good but it is having some problems that would need to be repaired in the near future and we don't want to sink any more money into it.  There it goes down our street.

We are looking for a hybrid.  What to get, what to get?  We are leaning towards a Prius.  There are 4 models now:  a small one, the regular one, a plug-in and a larger one.  We would get either the regular one or the one you can also plug-in.  Jeff also likes the new Ford Fusion and he's keen on buying American.  Remember that funny "House Divided" cartoon?  This may become a reality!

If I get a Prius, I want Blizzard White Pearl  and I want a sun roof!  I really hate going to car dealers so hope we can get one through the Internet.

  2. Hi Darylynn,
    LOL at that cartoon still :) I know lots of people that love their Prius!! When I get a new car I am leaning to a Ford Fusion :) I like you have had my little Focus for 11 years now in January and I give my car quite a work out with all the driving it do. Have a wonderful day and good luck car hunting. Hugs, Dru

  5. If you get the chance, check into what the batteries cost to replace them now etc. We had a workshop with our Automotive faculty and they weren't endorcing them because of the cost and repairs. They said "you will pay more up front and mort in the end" in regards with hybrids. I personally don't know, but I thought I should pass on what I have heard from the instructors that I know and trust.

    Other than that, I have a coworker, Sue, who will be 60 this next year and she talks the same way. She wants a car soon and it will be her "last car" or it is on her "bucket list". I had to read this post outloud to her this morning. Have a good day! HUGS

  7. Hi Darylynn;

    LOL! You'll have to explain nicely to Jeff that you'll be driving the car and the choice is up to you. Although I agree with Jeff on Ford and American made. Hope I help a little..

  9. How fun! I love the smell of a new car! Is the Prius made in the USA? Your car - your choice. Isn't it?

  10. Love new cars and like Marge, their smell.
    I would love a new Mustang. I have always loved those little cuties.
    My uncle was vice president for truck production for Ford in Kentucky and he would be glad that Jeff likes the Ford!

  11. Hi Darylynn, Good luck with the car shopping. When I worked with the PO. they had a lot of Ford Focus cars for staff and I liked they way they drove and many employees had the Prius.
    I just finished a long write up about our LA Carole King concert. It was great!

  12. tsk. cars. When Bill starts talking cars I just look glassy eyed. I ask 'does it have wheels'. and if the answer is yes, then it will do me. I don't care! As long as it gets us from A to B that's it. Though I notice he ignored me when I suggested the last one should be pink.

    Your Christmas decorations look fab! Utterly gorgeous.
    xx
