Jacob was also afraid of all the Disney characters. His favorite is Jessie from Toy Story so I was so happy to find her in the park but Jacob wouldn't go near her. Jeff had to roll the boys up in their stroller to get a photo.
You can see how thrilled Jacob is to be that close to the animated character come to life. Here's a photo of Ryan with Mickey. Also not that thrilled but he did love the Buzz Lightyear souvenir toy that he's holding. You squeeze the legs and it lights up in many colors and spins
They did have fun at the little petting zoo.
We stayed for the holiday parade which the boys really loved. It was nice being at Disneyland all decorated for Christmas. It's really beautiful. After the parade, we went to Downtown Disney to have dinner. We thought the boys would love The Rainforest Cafe so that's where we went. Here's a photo of the boys waiting for our table.
I guess I should add a new category called "the squeaky wheel gets greased" because they tried to seat us in a boring part of the restaurant and I protested. It was right near the stairway and elevators and away from all the exciting animated animals. They moved us to a new table right below a huge aquarium and by the animated elephants. It was probably one of the best seats in the house. I wanted Ryan and Jacob to have a great experience for their first time at The Rainforest Cafe. As we left the restaurant, the fireworks were going off at Disneyland so we were able to see them, too! Ryan said he had a great day and he wuved Disneyland! All these photos were just ones I quickly took on my iPhone and I haven't looked at the photos on Jeff's camera yet so maybe he'll have better ones that I can add later.

Hi Darylynn! We'll be at Disneyland the Monday after Thanksgiving. We're going to stay the week. I can't wait to go back, & we plan on getting our season passes again. Loved the pics of the boys. Hopefully they'll be able to do the 'big' stuff soon. We always love Rainforest Cafe. Good for you on standing your ground to get a good table for the boys!
ReplyDeleteI'm still trying to get back into the groove of visiting my blog reads daily. Don't give up on me. :) Hugs!
yeah, I'd have complained about the rubbish table too. It's not on, especially when you've got children to keep happy and entertained.
ReplyDeleteLovely pics, looks like a splendid time was had by all.

Hi Darylynn,
ReplyDeleteLooks like you all had a good time. Darylynn I go out to dinner a lot and I have no problem complaining where they try to sit us. Of course at Birds Cafe since we are there at least once a week they let us pick where we want to seat. I remember both Paul and Justin not being wild about the live animated characters when they were small. By the time they weren't scared they weren't interested in them anymore. Justin hated any rides that were loud which is most the fast fun ones. Have a great Thursday. Hugs, Dru
How fun! I took Riley down there to see "the big cheese" when he turned 5 and I had the same limitations. However, I have never been a roller coaster ride person, so it was OK. I have Kari for that. When we went to Silverwood in Idaho last summer, Riley went on the tallest roller coaster ride with his mom. I don't think he will be doing that too soon again. HUGS
ReplyDeleteHi Darylynn,
ReplyDeleteA lot of little kids are intimidated by the big rides. There will come a day when those are the ones they will love to ride. Our kids love the Rainforest too! Glad they were able to give you a better table. I think your pictures are great! thank that phone, huh? Happy day, girlfriend. Hugz!
So funny about the boys and characters. When Mike was litte, he was very concerned about Tigger. But he loved the Dreamfinder at Journey into Imagination (at Epcot). We have a Rainforest Cafe at the Disney Market Place and have sat next to the elephants. The first time they did their "thing" I just about jumped out of my seat! It startled me. Mike loved it! So glad you had such a great time. DisneyWorld is beautiful at Christmas and I imagine Disneyland is the same.
ReplyDeleteChildren are very strongly rooted in reality I have noticed. Things that are not natural or real trouble them I think.
ReplyDeleteI remember my daughter being horrified by a girl in a Mickey Mouse costume at the mall. Yet, the ZCMI in Salt Lake had a talking tree she adored! She explained it that one was not living and the other was and that bothered her a lot.
Glad you all had such a good time.
I used to long to see Disneyland as a kid.
Have a lovely rest of the day.
Hugs
The photos of the boys are so darling. They look so happy (except for around the characters lol). I can only imagine what must be going their their minds being at such a spectacular place. Shoot, I was an adult when I went to Disney for the first time and was amazed. lol
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you for asking for a new table. I think most would have. It's kind of silly that they would even have tables away from all the attractions of the restaurant, isn't it?
Glad you had a fun time! Thanks for sharing the pictures with us. Hope you're enjoying your Thursday. Hugs
Hi Darylynn;
ReplyDeleteLooks like you all had a wonderful day at Disney. I think most children at that age have a little fear of Story characters. I remember going with Elena and Dominic was about Ryan's age and he would cling to me so tight and buried his head in my neck. LOL! Going near "Santa" was the worst.
Have a great day & weekend my friend. Hugs
