Dog Day Afternoon

Happy Birthday Sadie!!!
We went to the 2nd annual Bark in the Park in Thousand Oaks on Saturday.  We went to the first one last year and enjoyed it so we made sure to catch it again this October.  Everyone brings their dogs and there are lots of activities and booths to explore.  The dogs got so many treats from the people running the booths and I walked away with a big bag full of samples of treats and dog foods.  Camp Bow Wow had a booth with a "Wheel of Fortune" type prize wheel.  I spun and won a free bath for Kanan and Jeff spun and one a free one hour training session fro Cooper.  Cooper could use some training to get him to stop pulling on his leash.  Not to be outdone, "The Barkley" had a spinning wheel and this time Jeff got a free day of doggie day care and I won a toothbrush.  That was our only booby prize.  The other 3 prizes are all quite valuable!  They had all kinds of contests like best howler, dog/owner look-alike and Halloween costume contest.  They had an obstacle course that we took Kanan and Cooper through.  There were even celebrity dogs you could take your photo with:  Beatrice from Modern Family and Aspen from Disney's Dog with a Blog.  All in all, a fun day!

From there, we went to Chris & Liz's for dinner and to meet their new English Springer Spaniel, Maverick or Ricky.  He's a rescue and a real sweetheart and got along fine with Cooper and Kanan.  It was unusually warm for their area which is closer to the ocean so we were able to sit outside and have a delicious dinner of BBQ leg of lamb!

  1. Hi Darylynn, so happy to see you post. Looks like your furbabies had a great weekend. I bet they are happy Jeff is retired. You know how much I loved Reina and I still miss her. But since I have a household of grandkids, I am ok. I just updated my blog and added a pic of the girls at their gym class. Does Jessica want any more kids? Well I am going to go tag Sadie. Have a great week! Hugs

  6. Sounds like you and the "kids" had a wonderful and fruitful day at the park. :) Wish I was there by the ocean sitting outside eating barbecued leg of lamb. I haven't had lamb in a very long time and it's my favorite meat. Have a lovely week ahead dear Darylynn. Hugs

  11. That's quite a nice place for Kanan and Cooper to go to. Lots of activities for them. We have a dog park a few miles away but I've never taken Mandy there. She sometimes goes to doggie day care at the kennel I board her at, There are always lots of small breed dogs for her to play with. She loves it! Have a great day. Hugs

  12. Hi Darylynn,
Have a great weekend. By the way Cooper was diagnosed with arthritics, hyper thyroid and an enlarged heart :( he is only taking meds for the thyroid and arthritis. The Vet they went to is where the girl I adopted the cat from works. Justin's friends girlfriend. They are in Echo Park not to far from us and they are really reasonable and their hours are Mon-Sat 8-10 PM and Sunday 9-5 how convenient is that? I will take Layla there for the rest of her shots and they are only going to charge me $40 to neuter her in Dec. Hugs, Dru
