Spur of the Moment

We had a quick little trip up to Morro Bay over the weekend.  George and Robin were on their way down from a Washington/Canada trip and called and asked if we might want to meet up with them in Morro Bay.  Jeff's grandparents built a home there many years ago and it is still in the family so we had a nice place to stay.  It was our first road trip with the dogs in the new Prius.  Remember I showed you the liner that Jeff made to protect the back area when the seats are down?  The dogs are great travelers and they had so much fun hiking and going to the beach.  Here's a photo of a trail we took high above the Morro Bay area.  Off in the distance, you will see the big Morro Rock in the water that is a landmark for the area.  My physical therapist would freak out if she knew I did this strenuous uphill climb!

We've visited Morro Bay a lot over the years but this weekend was, without a doubt, the best weather I've ever experienced there.  It's so often foggy and cool but, as you can see, it was sunny and clear with temps in the mid-80's!  We did this hike with Jeff's cousin Susan and her husband Greg and their 12 year old Golden Retriever, Sophie.  We had a nice BBQ back at the house that George and Robin fixed for us all.  Delicious tritip steaks, George's famous twice-baked potatoes, salad, and apple pie a la mode.  The following night, we went out to a Mexican restaurant.

A belated Happy Anniversary. So I guess next year we both do something for our 40th! Have a great week and thanks for the both. You have a large following that cares about you a lot! Hugs

  3. Happy Last day of September Darylynn;
    Love the photos of such a beautiful place. I would give anything to be able to walk and hike again especially in such a lovely place. We too are experiencing a true Indian summer here with perfect weather all week in the 70's and sunshine. Great photo of Jeff, Kanan & Cooper. I'm so glad you are doing well my friend. Hugs

  6. I love spur of the moment trips! Looks like you had a beautiful day. I sure wish my dogs traveled well. They get all nervous and drool all over when they go for a ride, even though they are always anxious to jump in the vehicle.

  10. Hi Darylynn,

    Wow I can't believe you did that hike. Naughty girl. I hope you are doing well. I have not had the pleasure of visiting that beach, but my cousins lived in San Louis Obispo not far from there of course.
    Steve and I need to get to Southern CA for a lighthouse trip. Next time he has 5 days off in a row i think we will try for that. Normally we had further North.
    Nice photos, good to see you had a great time after a somewhat boring summer I am sure not getting out and enjoying the good ole outdoors. This will be one to put in the diary as a summer not to remember right!!

    Dinner sounded yummy as well! I never make twice baked potatoes but have a lot of friends who do I must try it one day although Steve and I eat mostly sweet potatoes.

    Have a wonderful day! hugs
