No, I Do It!

This is what I hear all day, "No, I do it!"  I'm sure all mom's or grandmother's of two year olds can relate!  Jacob is in that self-sufficient stage where he wants to do  e v e r y t h i n g  by himself!  It starts first thing in the morning when he arrives and we go into the kitchen to get breakfast.  He has to climb up into his counter stool that has the little baby seat attached, has to latch the seatbelt himself and has to eat with no assist from Nani.  Then we reverse the routine and he has to unlatch the seatbelt, climb down and go upstairs where he has to take a DVD out of the case all by himself!  They are hard to get out and he's actually cracked one before trying to get it out so I usually try and assist as unobtrusively as I can.  I'm not complaining... he's getting to be a big boy now and as often as I hear, "No, I do it," I also hear "Oh yeah!"  Here's a photo of Jacob from our little getaway last week.  He's intrigued by the firepit!

  1. awwwww.... that's sweet! (but i can see where it could be an issue if you had time constraints!)

i had to check out the zoo membership after your posts.... PHEW.... my zip is still within in case i do let it lapse... but how strange that ours is and yours isn't? we're both about the same distance from san diego??? i just saw a post on FB that the koalas are in a temporary exhibit.... i prefer the safari park... but we missed the koalas when there in feb with my parents... so i do want to go back to see them and the new joeys!

  5. It's both a blessing and a curse! The times I get the offer of 'help' or cries of 'no, I'm doing it', only to have to redo/help/step in/clear up mess etc!

But, we have to let them get on with things, they want to grow up and they like to do things themselves. Unless it's clearing up their toys of course, then they suddenly 'can't do it'. bah!

  7. morning. Dudley travels on my lap! If we put him in his carrier he'd freak out, thinking he was off to the vets,so we just let him sit with us in the back :O)

  8. Jacob is so adorable! This stage can be difficult. I remember Trace cracking a library DVD for the same reason. We had to go show them and pay for it.

Jessica is very lucky to have you to watch the boys.
