Crash!

Not us... we were just witnesses.  We were leaving the Oaks Mall and waiting at a busy intersection for a green arrow.  The light was red for the traffic going in our direction.  All of a sudden the lady in the lane next to us started pulling out against the red light.  Jeff and I both noticed what she was doing and I said something like, "This is not going to end well."  She made it across two lanes but an SUV was coming in the far right lane and clipped her in her rear bumper.  It sent him sailing across the intersection where he hit the center divider and flipped over.  There were cars everywhere so it was lucky no other cars were hit.  Jeff stopped and I got out and went across the street to where other people had helped the man in the SUV get to safety and a place where he could sit down.  He was bleeding from the head and dirty but otherwise coherent.  I wanted him to know Jeff and I had witnessed the whole thing so I gave him a note with our name and phone number. By then the police were there (everyone including Jeff had called 911) and the policeman asked me for my driver's license and other info so he could take my statement and make a report.  As many cars as were around, only a few had seen the whole accident play out in front of them.  One other man was there and said he saw it the same way I was reporting it.  Scary how quickly those things can happen and we had Jacob in the backseat with us, too.  It was nice to see how the people in our community sprang into action.  You see those reports so often where no one wants to get involved.

  3. Thank goodness you are all okay, Darylynn. We saw an almost accident the other day; a miracle it didn't happen. We were on the highway en route to Roger's parent's place. Beside us was a big semi truck that needed to get into a lane, but some dimwit was hogging that lane. Almost sent the semi over the bridge and into the river. Probably would have taken us and three other vehicles with him.

Glad to hear that you had a great Easter :). We did, too. About the math course question you asked me; yes, it was a placement test. Mainly due to being out of school for a long time and not being able to use a calculator (which is so ridiculous to me lol), they have told me I need 3 upgrading math classes. Could have been worse ;o) ((hugs))

  6. It is a very helpless feeling when you see that someone is doing something that isn't going to end well. There is nothing you can do! I remember once seeing a car clip the back of another car turning and it set it spinning towards me and my school bus. I knew the car would hit me and waited because there was nothing I could do. However, in a school bus it was a "ping"... hardly could be felt. The car bounced off the bus and kept spinning. Since I didn't have students on board, I grabbed my first aid kit and took off to help the guy who had taken the "ride". He got out of his car and threw up. It is nice to see the community go to lend aid to someone they don't know. HUGS

  7. I never understood why people did stupid stuff like pulling out and trying to run red lights. They are in that much of a hurry that they can't wait the minute or two? They don't realize that their stupidity could kill someone. I'm glad the driver of the SUV wasn't seriously hurt and so nice of you and your husband to come forward as witnesses. Hope you had a great day!

    Hugs!

p.s. yes the divided one is for cornbread. :) You can still get really nice cast iron skillets from cracker barrel and other places.

  8. I never understood why people pull out and do these things. I'm glad no one was badly hurt and that you and the precious Jacob were fine.

I've been missing as I had a huge kidney stone removed Tues. I got home yesterday, but am very sore and tired. I'll get back to FV slowly!!!!

  9. So glad noone was badly injured, accidents are so awful
And thank goodness for that man that you & J saw the whole scene
It reminds me that last year I witnessed an accident between a man (I never knew if he was deaf or drunk or suicidary) and a tramway. I saw it all, and I was not the only one.
Many persons came to the rescue, and I was frankly useless, so I left the place
    oxox
