To blog or not to blog... the question is arising because I am paying for domain names for my old family site- The Mills Family HomePage and Elliot's Excellent Adventures and paying for webhosting for my home page. Jana has been hosting Elliot's pages for free. I haven't updated my family site in years but that's where I have my Darylynn.com-ments Wordpress blog. So I'm going to try moving Darylynn.com-ments to blogger so I can remove my family site. Yesterday, I worked on putting all of Elliot's site on to DVD and I will also do that with my old HomePage.
I will have a lot to learn about blogger. So far, all I did was add a background and change a few colors for links and selected a few fonts to use. I guess you will have to have a google account to sign in and leave me comments. Any tips will be greatly appreciated. As I'm about to press "Publish" I don't see any way to postdate posts. I won't like that because I'm used to writing my posts during the day and postdating them to publish at 12.01 AM.
While I'm at it, I might as well try adding a photo. That was easy! A photo of Zuma Beach where so many commercials and movies are filmed. Maybe I'll like this!

Hi Darylynn,
ReplyDeleteLet's see if this works?? Maybe when you become an expert here and my hosting is up you can help me. I don't have the time or patience to futz around with it lol
Hugs, Dru
Here is the blog I had set up a little years ago :) http://drusdippitydodas.blogspot.com/

ReplyDeleteLove it.
ReplyDeleteCan you use the new comment system on this? The inline comments have a reply system that is nice.
You can certainly post date your posts.
ReplyDeleteIf you are using the very latest blogger it is still a bit wonky. I prefer not using it yet.
You can add borders and etc in the CSS..etc. It is not hard at all.
Annie, Is this what you were talking about...where you can reply to a comment? There were several options of how to have comments so I hope I picked the best one. :)
DeleteHi Darylynn, I will probably be the last person to give up my website. I do have a blogger account that I was doing my SImple Woman post and I think it is susansays.blogspot.com I think my website is paid until next year. I had 2 sites at one time and then merged them. Still keep me linked to garden4mylord.com for now.
ReplyDeleteI love Blogger. It is so easy to use, and they are always making changes for the better so you can alter layouts and backgrounds.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be a little controversial and say part of the problem with blogging is people take the attitude of 'if you don't visit me first, I won't visit you'. I've noticed it a lot over the past year. And while I get that, it's also a bit annoying. I have to MAKE time to blog and visit because my time is needed elsewhere. I made a lot of effort over Christmas to get around and leave a note or two on blogs, and after a while I felt annoyed with myself for wasting my time. And that's a real shame.
So I've toughened up a bit. If I don't have time, I don't have time. Simple as that. I've been clearing up my 'reads' list to remove the pressure I feel to HAVE to make visits, particularly when the bloggers have said they won't be updating. I felt a bit bad about that at first, but why should I. Time is precious and my girly girl is growing up fast. Plus I've got some serious family stuff going on right now, and that is so much more important.
It's also pretty obvious that I am wasting my time in keeping a 'friends only' blog. Sometimes the facts can't be ignored.
For the time being I will continue. Even if my posts are sporadic and I write on CR more (because people visit me there!!!!) But it is hard. It is so disheartening.
Ok. Time for me to shut my yap!
Good luck with your Blogger. I hope you will enjoy it here :O)
xx
Well you did it...well done. Blogger is actually very easy to use so I'm sure you' ll get a handle on it in no time at all. Time for me to head zzzzzzz land. Goodnight. :)
ReplyDeleteI have been reading you every day for many years & don't comment, but want you to know that I will follow wherever you post! Love the look of this place, seems more updated. Hve fun with the new "home!"
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Blogger Darylynn. You're gonna love it here. And yes there is a place where you can designate when you want your entry to post. where is it? dunno but if I ever find it again I will let you know! :) Hugz!
ReplyDeleteI will be getting rid of my domain expires to be honest. Hope blogger works for you :)
ReplyDeleteHi Darylynn,
ReplyDeleteGot on but it is hinkey? It keeps saying comment should not be empty before I even write one! I told you blogger does not like me lol I see you have added some stuff on the side. Good job. Hugs, Dru
just saw your comment, and that's exactly why I know I can be honest with you. You don't take it as a personal insult, and of course, it wasn't aimed at you. I will always make time to visit you for two reasons. Firstly, you are one of my oldest blog friends (in the nice way!), and you post as often as time allows and you have always been a regular visitor to all of us.
ReplyDeleteGot a lot of time for you lady :O)
post dating blog posts has changed. It used to be easy but Blogger made changes and I haven't been able to work it out since then. It used to be that you went to 'blogger in draft' dashboard (found on the dashboard. scroll down and you'll see a list at the bottom, with things like picassa web albums, google reader etc.), you could then select when to post the blog, but for the life of me I can't see how to do it now.
Right. Time I was off. Too much drama with some of my family members at the moment, need to take a bit of time for a glass of Prosecco and a read of a book!
xx
Hey looking good Darylynn :)
ReplyDeleteOh Darylynn, that's so surprising to see you here on Blogger !! A year after I left it, you decide to join it :) I hope you'll like it here. For some (silly) reasons, I think it is more friendly than Wordpress.
ReplyDeleteI apologize if I haven't been a frequent visitor & commenter these weeks & months. Since my father's death, I've been feeling busier than ever, mostly because I actually am, and because I feel now that I need to make things if I want to, because time passes by too fast.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me know about your move to Blogger. I'll change my bookmarks.
Please take care xoxo
