Going Downton

Jeff and I have been on a marathon of Downton Abbey.  We've heard so much about it but didn't have room for it in our busy TV schedules but thanks to the "winter break" absence of our favorite shows and our new Amazon Prime Instant Videos, we were able to watch the whole first season over the past few days.  We are really enjoying it and the 3rd season began last night on PBS so we are recording that and will finish up Season 2 on Amazon Prime.  The best part is, it's all free.  I have missed a good soap opera type show since the cancellation of All My Children so this kind of fits the bill.  So who else watches it?  Amazon Prime is working out to be a really good deal for us.  In addition to all the free shipping we got over the holidays, we were able to cancel Jeff's $9.95 per month X-Box Live subscription which we were really only using to watch movies.  We don't need Netflix either so between Amazon Prime and Redbox, we have access to all the TV and movies we need.   We can also watch everything from Amazon on my iPad and Jeff's Kindle.  Pretty cool!

  1. You are the 4th person in the last few days that has been talking about Downton Abbey. I have Netflix and can get it on there. I'm going to have to check it out! Sounds like you've got a good set up with your viewing. I'm not able to stream onto my TV and I don't like watching from the computer so the DVDs at Netflix are good. I do need to get into the 21st century though and get an IPad or something! :)

  2. Hi Darylynn,
I know a lot of people like Downton Abbey it is not my cup of tea. That is cool that Amazon is working out so well for you. I still stick with Netflix for DVD's and straming TV shows and movies which I never seem to have time for anyway. Have a great Monday. Hugs, Dru

  3. My sister loves that show. I have not been to a movie in a long time. I wanted to see Les Mis with my dad :( I need to get busy working on pictures for his montage. I am sure there will be lots of snow whenever you get to go. Hugs

  4. It is a popular show. The only soap opera I watch now is Days of Our Lives which I have watched from day one.

  6. Hi Darylynn,
So happy to find another Downton fan. It really is a great show. Never thought of it in terms of the soaps but now that you mention it, there is a similarity. Have a great week. Hugz!
