Rattlesnake Aversion Clinic

Cooper and Kanan are going to a Rattlesnake Aversion Clinic at The Barkley this afternoon.  We have lots of rattlesnakes in the local hills and the trails where we take them hiking.  The training involves wearing "bark collars" and introducing them to live muzzled rattlesnakes.  You can read about it HERE.  We asked if it would be okay to bring Ryan and Jacob along to watch as they are always so worried about rattlesnakes at the parks since they have "Beware of Rattlesnake" signs.  I wasn't sure if The Barkley would think this appropriate but they said it would be fine for them to come and watch.  I think it will be good for them to see what a real rattlesnake looks like and be aware they are to be avoided.

Justin and Sarah are back from their whirlwind European Adventure.  I thought I'd end my version of their travelogue with a wonderful photo of them in Paris!  Have a great weekend, Happy Easter and see you in April!

  1. Gosh, that sounds interesting. I am having difficulty imagining a muzzled rattlesnake, the buckles must be tiny and won't it slip off if they haven't got a neck or ears? Will await the next instalment with keen anticipation.Sounds like a good idea to have Ryan & Jacob along to learn about them too. The Paris photo is fabulous, the photographer certainly had a good eye and the perfect models :)

  2. Hi Darylynn,
Yikes live rattlesnakes muzzled! Who knew they would have training for this? Very cool! I love the picture of Justin & Sarah! Paris looks beautiful! I have to still upload my photos to Flickr I have over 300. I scanned all our proffesional pictures and posted a few on FB. Every port you get off they take a picture. On board pictures on formal nights and pictures at dinner everynight! You could spend a fortune with all the picture taking at $20 a pop. We just each get a few and then I scan them and get copies made from Snapfish really cheap via Flickr! Have a great weekend. Hugs, Dru

  3. Hi Darylynn! It never amazes me what they have training for anymore but living where you live. I think you are very wise for going. We have timber rattlers here but our most common poisonous snake is the copperhead. Thankfully, I have seen neither. lol I'm happy to read that Justin and Sarah made it back safely from their trip. Love the photo! Have a great weekend and a Happy Easter! Hugs

  4. Wonderful photo of Justin and Sarah. How happy they look.
Ugh snakes. We have timber rattlers and copperheads here in the pine barrens. Poisonous and I see no need for them !(lol)
Utah was full of rattlers too.
I am glad they have a program like that. Dogs and cats can be too inquisitive sometimes.
I hope the boys also learn to stay clear.
    Have a wonderful holiday weekend.
    Hugs

    2. It is OSU with the script.
I was accepted at UCLA. We might have been there at the same time but the thought of the commute home for holidays and breaks was daunting and I narrowed the choices down to the eastern half of the US.

  7. Hi Darylynn, What a great idea! Florida has it's share of snakes too. We had a water moccasin in the water pond. Sure was worried about Dahli. Andy shot it so it all ended well.
Excellent that the boys can go!

Great picture of the kids in Paris.
