We had never been to the Pacific Amphitheater inside the fairgrounds but thought it was a really great concert venue. It's outside and like a mini-version of the Hollywood Bowl so even the seats in the last row (unlike the Hollywood Bowl) are decent seats. We were right about in the middle of the amphitheater. They also serve beer and wine inside the venue which probably explains the off-key chorus of who-who, who-who's you'll hear in the short video below.

Who-Who, Who-Who!
Saturday we went down to Justin's to the Orange County Fair and the Roger Daltry (The Who) benefit concert for Teens with Cancer. I've never been to the OC Fair before but it seemed much bigger then the Ventura County Fair that we took the boys to last summer. That was my first ever County Fair. Before the fair, we met Justin and Sarah at Justin's house and went out to dinner at The Triangle. There are lots of restaurants to choose from and we decided on the Saddle Ranch Chop House. They have outdoor seating and fire pits where you can make your own s'mores. Coincidentally, it was National S'mores Day! The site I just linked to has an ongoing list of what "National (or International) Day" every day is. For example, today, August 12th, is International Youth Day.

Hi Darylynn,
ReplyDeleteThis was your fist County Fair? You never go to the LA County Fair? That is the biggest of all. You evening sounds wonderful with dinner and the Roger Daltry! How exciting!! Hope you have a wonderful Monday. Hugs, Dru
Sounds like you had a wonderful time. That site with the National days on was interesting. I notice yesterday was International Raspberry Tart day. Do you have the expression blowing a raspberry? It's Cockney rhyming slang - raspberry tart = well I'm sure I don't have to spell it out!
ReplyDeleteThat is right in the backyard of my old home... my dad's house is right behind South Coast Plaza. I attended Orange Coast College (and graduated from there). I went to the fair a couple of times. Back in the 70s it wasn't as impressive as it is today. I was use to the LA fair, if I went to a fair at all. Glad you had fun! HUGS
ReplyDeleteHi Darylynn, you made my birthday by posting! Glad you enjoyed the fair. It is a family tradition now. We saw Planes yesterday at the movies with the kids. Your grandsons would like it. I posted a picture at my blog. Have a great day. Hugs
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great weekend. I think I was to one fair long ago but, it seems not to have made much impression I guess since I don't remember if I did or not!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter will be in San Diego tomorrow to give a lecture. Her flight leaves at the crack of dawn tomorrow morning.
Hugs
ha ha. good old Jackie, you can trust on her to lower the tone! ;o)

ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a wonderful time. :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rest of summer. xo
Hi Darylynn. Just passing by to say hello. So lucky that you got to see The Who. One of my favorites. :) I'm glad you had a good time. Hope you're doing well! Hugs
ReplyDeleteHi Darylynn that sounds like a great weekend and watching the Who quite nice. I have not been to a concert in a very long time. I give all the free tickets Steve gets from co he works with to the kids, last weekend I gave Shane Bill Engval (SP) ticket for him and his wife to go see that, the loved it, though not a concert. LOL! I can't stand crowds like that.
ReplyDeleteI love to go out in the evening though to dinner and the place you were at looks fantastic. Very pretty setting. Have a wonderful weekend I am saying it early since I will be leaving for a little get away weekend after Rylans 2nd birthday already. Yikes he is getting to be a big boy to fast. Hugs
