What was I saying...

It's been so long since I posted here and I don't miss the daily thinking up of things to write about.  For almost 10 years, it came easily and then, all of a sudden, it became a chore.  What I do miss are the blog friends who are not on Facebook.  I haven't found Twitter something I like to use but I do check it to see how friends are doing from time to time.  I was saddened to read this morning about Annie's loss of her beloved cat Garfield and decided it was time to give a little update.  Maybe those who see updates on their blogs will see that I posted.

We also experienced two sad losses since the beginning of 2015.  At the beginning of the year, we lost our sweet calico cat, Hayley Mills.  She died extremely suddenly of kidney failure.  She was Hunter's sister and she was our pet who had epilepsy and was on constant medication for that.

Then in another blow, we lost our 9 year old black lab, Kanan, to cancer which all of you know has plagued our dogs.  Once again, we went to our oncology vet, who knows us all too well, for treatment and chemotherapy which did not prove to be effective in Kanan's case.  So Jeff and I once again made the trek up to our hill to scatter Hayley's and Kanan's ashes where Dylan's and Kali's also remain.  Kanan was an especially tough loss for Jeff as Kanan was so devoted to him.

In good news, Jeff and I are finally getting around to those travel plans!  We have a family trip to Yosemite coming up in June and then in July, we will be in Europe for a little over 3 weeks.  Our first stop is London for 4 days then on to Paris for 3 days.  We will take a train from Paris to Zurich and then board the Bernina Express for a scenic ride through the alps on a narrow gauge train to Italy.  We will spend the night in Milan before boarding another train to Venice where we will stay for another 3 days.  We then leave for Rome and stay 2 nights before embarking on a 7 day Mediterranean cruise about the largest cruise ship in the world, Royal Caribbean's  "Allure of the Seas."  Here's a little map of our itinerary at sea.

After we return to Rome, we will board a plane to Prague and stay there 2 nights before returning to London for one last night before our return flight home.

Any advice anyone has for things to do in any of our stops would be greatly welcomed.  Turns out that we will be arriving in Paris on Bastille Day so should be in for some excitement, partying and fireworks over the Eiffel Tower.  As I said on Facebook, guess I can scratch off a bucket list item that I didn't even know was in my bucket!

Lots of love to you all! <3 <3 <3

  1. Hi Darylynn, I took a chance ans stopped in and you posted! I do miss the closeness we all shared blogging. I know losing your furbabies is very hard. I think it is neat that all of them had their ashes spread in the same place. Your trip sounds so exciting! I bet the boys will miss you. A lot has happened my way too. Renee moved out with the kids though we still help. We sold our home and bought a single story, in escrow now. So happy you posted! Hugs

  2. Oh Darylynn, I tried to reply to your mail (via the contact form) but it bounced back. My email is cozymemories AT orange DOT fr
I am deeply & sincerely saddened to read about these two losses. How terrible for you all. :( My heart aches for you.

What am I reading ? You're coming to France ?! I'll be in Paris on July 01st/2nd/3rd then on the 11th for a couple of hours. I supposed you were emailing about your trip. I hope your email will go through now.

Things change in the wink of an eye (or over the years), but one thing I've got to know is that there's nothing to do but to go with the flow. We all have different lives, different priorities, things happen, life happens. I'm happy our paths crossed many moons ago, and I'm glad to be here today & to be able to read you.

Sending you all my love xoxo

  3. Darylynn, I'm so sorry that you lost two of your fur babies. What beautiful pets! I hope you are healing from their loss. I know it takes time.

I've not been all that faithful at blogging lately, but have decided to come back & try to post at least two or three times a week. One of those posts will be very easy (Wordless Wednesday). I so wish you would do the same. I absolutely LOVED reading here! I miss you & miss the updates. Hopefully you will come back to post once weekly.

Your trip sounds fantastic! You will have such fun & make wonderful memories! I will look forward to your blog post letting us know all about it.

Take care Darylynn! Hope to come back next week & find another post...please???? You'd make so many happy! Hugs

  4. Hi Darylynn, I know exactly how you feel about blogging. I go through spurts where it's fun and I enjoy it, and then it starts to feel like a chore. Your trip sounds so awesome and I know you're going to have a blast! It's been a sad year for a lot of my friends because they've all lost pets too. It's always so sad! :( Glad to see a post from you! Hugs

Your trip looks wonderful, no fabulous, no fantastic. OK all of the above. Lots of pictures please. Wondering if your new d.i.l. did these travel plans for you. Miss you. Love you. Hugz!!

  6. Hi Darylynn,
I am so sorry for your losses. So sad. Almost too much to bear, losing 2 beloved fur babies.

I am happy, though, to hear that you'll be doing lots of travelling this summer and I wish you and Jeff all the very best! Wonderful to see a post from you.

I decided to renew my site and upload my blog again. So quiet in the site/blog world, though :) I understand, though.. I have trouble getting into the routine of it. Like you said, it sometimes feels like a chore. ((hugs))

  7. stopped by on the off chance & look what I find. A new post!

Sorry about your losses. That is just too heartbreaking.

By the time you read this, I suspect you will be back from your globetrotting. Hope you had a good time. Maybe you will blog about it? I'm still not on FB and have no plans to do so.

Bon voyage, and happy travelling. All I say is when in London, skip Harrods and go to Liberty and Fortnum & Mason instead. Much better places to be.
